-Pankaj Shukla
Co-founder, SimplifyEm

Client Overview

SimplifyEm is a California-based B2B software company which launched in 2006. They sell innovative software, as well as access to complimentary services that help real estate professionals easily manage accounting tasks from any desktop or mobile device. To date, SimplifyEm software is used to manage over $44 billion in property assets.

Client Problem

SimplifyEm’s website had not had a major update since its launch. Because of this, it was extremely outdated and no longer compliant with SEO best practices. The company founders also expressed concern over losing online traffic and market share to competitors with more contemporary websites. Some major issues included:

  • A website that was not mobile responsive
  • A website that was not structured for high conversion rates
  • Content that lacked on-page SEO
  • Content that did not clearly relay SimplifyEm’s value proposition
  • Lack of a clear, consistent call-to-action

Solutions Provided

WordPress Development  /  Conversion-focused Content Writing  /  Keyword Research  /  Competitor Research

SimplifyEm entrusted Sequoia and her team at Funnel Amp with the conversion-focused redesign of the commercial-facing portion of their website (WordPress). SimplifyEm’s in-house developers simultaneously worked on updating the internal site (Ruby on Rails).

Funnel Amp first conducted a complete SEO analysis of the existing SimplifyEm website as well as an analysis of SimplifyEm’s three closest competitors. Using the information gathered during the client’s on-boarding interview, and the results of the comprehensive analysis, Funnel Amp developed a new website and content specifically focused on encouraging higher conversions and improving the site’s SEO position.

Sankofa Fine Art Plus

Client Overview

Sankofa Fine Art Plus is a Cleveland, Ohio 501(c)(3) nonprofit community arts organization founded in 1999. It was created by a group of artists and art enthusiast interested in breaking down barriers that prevent ethnic artists from reaching a vaster audience. Its primary activities involve fostering public art appreciation via community partnerships, education, and public art projects.

Client Problem

Like many non-profit organizations, Sankofa Fine Art Plus has relied on volunteer assistance with past projects; this included the construction of its original website.

Some of the problems that resulted from handing off such an important task to volunteers included: inconsistencies in the quality of the website’s creation, lack of strategy and focus around what the website would be designed to do, and the inability to rely on a professional for consistent website updates.

The volunteer web designer ultimately disappeared; this left the foundation with an outdated, static website that served virtually no purpose. Additionally, foundation members were unable to log in to make changes to the site since no one could locate the original designer.

Solutions Provided

WordPress Development  /  Branding Guide Creation  /  E-commerce  /  Conversion-focused Design

Since its founding, Sankofa Fine Art Plus has taken on a new management team. Sequoia conducted an in-depth client interview with the team to learn about the current issues with their site and goals they wished to achieve through a website redesign.

Using the information gathered from the client interview, Sequoia proceeded to construct a new, rebranded website that matches the boldness and energy of the work the foundation produces to achieve its mission. Additionally, the new website has a clear purpose, and is designed to aid the foundation in advancing its cause while also clearly advertising its accomplishments.

The list of deliverables completed for this project included:

  • A complete foundation rebranding to match the new team’s vision
  • Creation of a branding guide to ensure brand consistency across platforms
  • Development of a light-weight, mobile responsive WordPress website
  • Implementation of a e-commerce shop for the website
  • Development of an easy-to-manage publishing system that updates the foundation’s blog while also populating their website gallery

Co-founder, MEGAFANS

Client Overview

Jeff Donnelly is the co-founder of a recently launched electronic gaming startup, MEGAFANS (Mobile eSports Games and Fantasy Sports). MEGAFANS’ mission is to disrupt the eSports industry by proving that mobile games can be just as profitable, competitive, and engaging as PC and console titles. MEGAFANS accomplishes this by publishing “midcore” mobile games that allow players to earn cash prizes and qualify for professional-level tournaments that are hosted around the world.

Client Challenge

Jeff sought to build authority for his "personal brand", attract the attention of venture capitalist, and secure investment funds to support his company’s growth. He also wanted to advertise his status as an industry insider to gain the interest of game developers who could potentially utilize MEGAFANS' mobile eSports engine. As the co-founder of a new startup, it was important for him to position himself as trustable authority and to distribute supporting content for members of his target audience who searched for him online.

Solutions Provided

WordPress Development / Keyword Research / Technical Writing / SEO Blog Content Writing / Press Release Writing / Social Media Marketing

Jeff first hired Sequoia to write and design the company white paper. The white paper's purpose was to present MEGAFANS’ concept, mission, roadmap, and team to potential investors. Jeff was pleased with the outcome of the white paper and thus proceeded to hire Sequoia and her team to engage in a full-scale authority building project. The deliverables developed for Jeff included:

  • Building a new authoritative WordPress blog (Mobile Games Alpha)
  • Researching primary keywords related to eSports and mobile gaming
  • Writing website copy
  • Authoring a monthly block of blogs based on topics selected by Jeff Donnelley
  • Back link building to pillar content on the MGA blog
  • Distributing content across several social media platforms
  • Writing and distributing press releases

-Aaron Hanson
Co-founder, Crowd Ox

Client Overview

Crowd Ox is a B2B SaaS platform designed to assist Kickstarter, Indiegogo, and other crowdfunding campaigns with post-funding fulfillment. Using the Crowd Ox platform, project managers can easily import relevant contact and shipping details for all of their backers, up-sell to backers, and raise additional funding.

Client Need

Crowd Ox conducts cold email marketing that targets project managers who have active crowdfunding campaigns on Kickstarter, Indiegogo, and similar platforms. They needed a technical writer who could develop a lead magnet that would guide Kickstarter project managers through the process of adding Google Analytics to their fundraising page. It was stressed that these potentially complicated instructions needed to be relayed in way that would be easy to follow. After providing this free value to their target reader, Crowd Ox would make a pitch within the document for their own services.

Solutions Provided

Lead Magnet Design / Technical Writing

Crowd Ox co-founder Aaron Hanson provided Sequoia with a basic outline and a general idea for creating a lead magnet. Sequoia set up a project launch call to gather further information that would help her develop a lead magnet that would provide maximum value for both Crowd Ox and their target audience.

With these details Sequoia proceeded to write and design a 12 page PDF lead magnet that included:

  • Strong branding
  • Contact details for Crowd Ox on every page
  • A preamble explaining the benefit of Google Analytics to the target audience
  • Clear, illustrated instructions
  • A clear call-to-action on the closing page

Aaron was so pleased with the final outcome that he went on to order two more lead magnets.
